$6,000 lesson on why we monitor PMs

Some people just have to learn the hard way.

We tell people nonstop: do not deal outside checkout tickets. Use checkout tickets. Protect yourself. But nope, someone thought they were smarter than the system. Result? They wired $6,000 USDC on Solana directly to a scammer.

The PMs (usernames redacted except staff @Brant):

Buyer:

hey, I’ll be purchasing @mi on X for $6000 usdc SOL
using swapd dms

Scammer:

Confirming the deal of $6,000 USDC SOL for @mi on X.
We will be dealing in DM’s as agreed due to you/your friend not being VIP and cannot bid on the username. We will both be filming the transaction, not playing any games or scams.

After receiving the login information you will require codes where you will record of yourself logging in to the account to prove login works etc.

My Solana Address: 33pqFA9Ri3zYz7nrqh8STcozoKEkcuJmeM3twhoNZtoY

Reply to this message with the TXID.

Buyer:

i confirm

Scammer:

Ok upload the TXID when sent.

Buyer:

33pqFA9Ri3zYz7nrqh8STcozoKEkcuJmeM3twhoNZtoY

(transaction screenshot attached)

Later in chat:

Buyer:

hello
brother
are you here
money has transferred out of ur wallet?

@Brant (Admin):

You are NOT allowed to have any direct transactions. Please refund this and start a checkout ticket, @Scammer.

Buyer:

he scammed me
he hasn’t replied in telegram
and the money in wallet is gone
@Brant he told me he paid u guys some kind of deposit 3 eth for auctions is that true

@Brant:

That’s not true.

Buyer:

don’t let him scam more

The aftermath:

  • Buyer ignored rules.
  • Sent $6,000 to a random wallet.
  • Got ghosted.

This is exactly why PMs are monitored and why SWAPD exists. Albeit, we couldn’t get to this PM in time to save the buyer, but we can’t be online 24/7.

Scamming is too easy in 2025. Someone just walked off with 6K, ez pz.

It’s true that scamming has unfortunately become easier, but so too has protecting yourself. The platform’s checkout system exists precisely for this purpose. As long as people continue to try to bypass the system by claiming they know, it becomes easier for scammers to do so. The key is not to underestimate security measures.

Let SWAPD get face verification every time you enter an app :no_mouth:

Well I do not think so if you know what a digital asset means. Offsite I see many people saying I Only use Telegram middle men and as soon as I hear that.
:triangular_flag:
, if its not on a reputable site, I am better off broke than lose an asset and Money at the same time. My hard. Some ones hard…6k

id chance something like that for $500, but 6k, rather just pay the swapd fee lol

Everyone wants to evade it. System way better than anyplace I know on the internet. Do not forget the chance of having motivated and Smart people in one place.

So, a retard got scammed for being retarded. Why is natural selection news again?

I hope this was a coordinated attempt to loot the victim fund because jeez.

Don’t wanna deal on SWAPD and wanna go direct?
Alright, do it. Try a Telegram middleman…

But hey, they can dip with your money too (remember AMP MM?).

Best bet? Stick to SWAPD and use checkout tickets.

I am scared of being rug pulled. :joy: Greed is something else or he bets all the money somewhere with 100 Percent guarantee.

He was a gambling addict.

Ugh, unfortunately this has happened yet again! New users were simply told by the scammer that they were in contact with Tedsk/me/other admins and decided to send the scammer (seller) funds directly without question anything or creating a ticket.

Again, escrow is required in all transactions and you must create a ticket.
