Hello community, I would like to discuss with you two simple ideas for possible updates that I think could work.
1._ “Seen” tag in chats that alerts you when the other user has seen the message
We often see users who seemed very interested in closing a deal on the site but no longer respond to our messages. If we add a WhatsApp-style check mark or a “seen” message that alerts us when the other user has seen the message, we can know if they haven’t read it or if they are simply ignoring us.
2._Forwarding messages outside the site via swapd to inactive users
The first idea came about after I created a non-prepaid ticket with @selmansends and the ticket was automatically closed. A year later, the service is still active and has not reconnected, indirectly wasting time on that job. That’s when I thought,
what if swapd had a service where they communicated with some users outside the site?
Example: two months have passed and the user has not reconnected, and they were very close to finalizing a negotiation or there was a pending ticket. With an “External Chat” option, one writes the message they want to send and sends it. the swapd team reviews it and proceeds to send it to that person outside the site (Instagram, Telegram, WhatsApp, SMS, email, etc.). This way, inactive users can be notified, or if you had a seller you loved for how they offered their service and they haven’t reconnected, you can charge, for example, $0.25 per message and only allow them to send one every two days.
I think showing whether a message has been seen is a good idea. although you can see the last time they were online, that doesn’t guarantee that they’ve seen the message, especially if they’re users with lots of chats at the same time. There will be a percentage of people who simply haven’t seen the message because they have other priorities or because they have so many messages. Just like on WhatsApp, you can see the notification, but there’s a percentage of people who genuinely didn’t see the message because they were busy, not because they’re uninterested.
And with regard to emails, although swpad sends them, it sends emails for many reasons, so they can get lost because emails are always arriving. Furthermore, an email is not the same as a direct message that is only used in important situations; the priority changes.
It would be great if Ticket-related threads and PM threads were separated under Messages. Currently, everything is grouped together, which makes it feel cluttered.
