I wanted to open up a genuine discussion about the current rule that prohibits the sale of software and SaaS apps on the platform.
I recently built a browser-based Web3 trading platform-something a bit unique in the space. I listed it for sale, got interest, but the post was removed due to the “no software” policy. I get that rules are rules, but I’m curious:
Why exactly is software/SaaS banned, even when the project is legit, fully operational, and there’s clear buyer interest?
Let’s be real:
-
A tool that helps people make money or grow their business should be welcome, right?
-
You already allow digital assets like social media pages, domains, and branding-software seems like a natural fit.
-
SWAPD is a trusted environment. You could require code reviews, even offer a “verified developer” badge to keep it safe.
I’m not trying to bend the rules-just asking whether this policy is still relevant or worth reconsidering.
There’s real demand here, and it feels like a missed opportunity for sellers and the platform.
Would love to hear from the mods and other users:
Why is this rule in place-and is there any path toward allowing software/SaaS listings under strict conditions?
Thanks!
