⚠️ Misuse of Brand Rights Protection (BRP) – What’s Happening?

Recently, a method involving Business Manager and a new Meta tool called Brand Rights Protection (BRP) started getting abused.

The tool is supposed to protect brands… but some people used it in a harmful way to attack other people’s accounts

The result? :backhand_index_pointing_down:

  • Posts getting removed for no real reason
  • Copyright strikes hitting accounts and pages
  • And in many cases… full account removals

You can see this in the large number of Instagram “copyright” accounts that were affected by this wave and ended up being disabled

:collision: What’s the actual problem?

The tool gives strong reporting power.
So, when someone submits a report:

  • It gets processed quickly
  • Sometimes automatically
  • And your account takes unsolvable hit before you even react

Here’s a quick tutorial on how to handle this :white_check_mark: how to recover your posts and remove strikes:

  1. Check your email :envelope_with_arrow:

You should receive a message about the violation.

Inside it, you’ll usually find:
:backhand_index_pointing_right: Report / Case Number

This is VERY important.

  1. Submit an appeal (the right way)

Use the official Meta forms:

:pushpin: Facebook:

:pushpin: Instagram:

  1. What to write in your appeal :writing_hand:

Keep it simple and clear:

  • Mention the Report Number
  • Say that the claim is false or abusive (if that’s your case)
  • Ask for a manual review
  1. Don’t rush or spam :cross_mark:

Avoid:

  • Sending too many appeals randomly
  • Using “bypass” or unofficial methods
