Before beginning make sure to secure on mobile as you’re given very limited options on web.
Check if there is an external recovery method. Click the question mark on the login page, choose “recover your account,” and enter the username. If it shows anything other than email or phone number such as Google, it’s likely linked to an external source and vulnerable to pull-backs.
- Check if the username is a duplicate.
The most reliable way to check is by searching the username in the TikTok search bar, duped usernames will show up next to each other, if not, very close. If there are two copies of the username you likely don’t want to proceed with the deal.
- Ask the seller to change the Email/Number to yours
Go to profile, click the three bars, click on Settings and Privacy > Manage Account > Email / Number. Adding a number is recommended to enhance the security.
- Reset the password using your email
Login after you’ve reset the password to something new.
- Remove Sessions
Go to Settings and Privacy > Security and login > Manage Devices and remove any device that do not belong to you. This step is crucial as sometimes TikTok may not log other sessions out despite the password being changed.
- Turn on 2FA
Below the Manage Devices section, you will find the option for 2-step verification. Enable it to complete securing.
Additional Tips
- Secure without a VPN to avoid rate limits.
