You can check it in two ways.

  1. Check the profile through a browser while logged out. If the account has been disabled/removed, Instagram may show:

“Sorry, this page isn’t available. The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed.”

  1. Try “Forgot password?” using the account’s username or email. The result can help indicate whether the account still exists in Instagram’s system.

If the account is only temporarily deactivated by the owner, Instagram can display a different status/message and the profile may become visible again after reactivation.

So, checking the profile from a browser plus testing the username through Forgot password is a useful way to distinguish between the different situations.
