I’m Building an AI System That Replaces Human Forum Moderators (For Good)

I’m starting work on a project I’ve wanted for years, a fully AI-driven forum moderation system that finally replaces the unpredictable, power-hungry BS moderators we all know too well.

The goal is simple:

  • No more mood-based removals.
  • No more inconsistent rule enforcement.
  • No more mods flexing authority because they can.
  • No more personal grudges influencing decisions.

What I’m building

This system uses AI to enforce a forum’s written policies consistently and transparently.

It ingests posts, user signals, behavior patterns, and community guidelines, then outputs:

  • Whether a rule was violated
  • Which rule
  • Severity
  • Suggested action (warn, temp-mute, delete, remove)
  • A clear explanation every time

It also detects spam rings, brigading, sockpuppets, hate speech evasion, and other patterns that human mods usually miss.

Why this matters

Human moderators can be great—but they can also be biased, burnt out, or just plain petty.

AI solves the consistency problem and removes the ego problem.

Humans can still exist as a lightweight appeal layer, but the day-to-day moderation work becomes automated, fair, logged, and accountable.

What I need

I’m looking for:

  • People interested in collaborating
  • Communities willing to test early versions
  • Feedback on features and pitfalls
  • Examples of moderation nightmares you’d want solved

If you’re tired of uneven rule enforcement, biased removals, or moderators who treat forums like personal kingdoms, this project is for you.

Let me know if you want to help shape this. I’m building it regardless—but it’ll be better with input.
