When you get verified they tell you to keep your profile public. However you can switch to private with no issues but it’s always risky.

Yes, you can make your profile private, but verified accounts should always be public. So Facebook / Instagram always says this, I’ve never seen someone whose account was closed because their profile was private.

If account is verfied as public figure it should be keep public otherwise there is risk to get badge removed.
I know someone who has a private IG, for over a year now too.

I’ve seen a lot so-called influencers making their profile private from time to time to gain more followers. I guess unless someone reports you, you are fine or something
