First things first, I have to admit something: I’m probably a bit of a serial procrastinator. ![]()
So, let’s see if I can do things differently this time and actually document the process from start to finish.
What we are building?
I’m currently developing an AI image and video generation platform designed to compete with established platforms like Civitai and Tensor.Art, while also aiming to compete with bigger players like Higgsfield.
The goal isn’t to focus on just one niche or a single type of model. I want to build a platform where users can generate images and videos using a wide range of models, with a strong focus on usability, quality, and affordability.
I also see an opportunity to make things easier for AI OFM creators (AI girls, AI influencers and stuff) who need a reliable, affordable way to create high quality content without dealing with unnecessary complications.
What’s the main idea behind the platform?
There are a few things I want to focus on:
- A clean and simple user experience. I want users to spend their time creating, not figuring out how the platform works.
- Affordable image and video generation. Good quality generation shouldn’t have to be unnecessarily expensive or complicated to the artists or creators.
- A fairer deal for model creators. My plan is to give creators 70% of the eligible revenue generated through the use of their models.
- A broad selection of models. I want to support different models and workflows for both image and video generation, rather than limiting the platform to one niche.
- A better experience for AI OFM creators. The idea is to provide a straightforward place to create high quality content without making the process more complicated or expensive than it needs to be.
These are the goals I’m working toward, of course. There’s still a lot to build before I can deliver the complete experience I have in mind.
What’s my background with this project?
I’m leading most of the work on this project, but I’m not completely alone. We’re working as a small, flexible team, with people stepping in when there’s a specific task that fits their experience. I’ll be handling most of the day to day work and bringing all the pieces together, while others contribute their expertise where it’s most useful.
One person on the team already has experience creating LoRAs, checkpoints, and generated images and videos. We also have access to a collection of more than 110 LoRAs and checkpoints created by that team member. This gives us a starting point and some hands on knowledge of the ecosystem, so we’re not going into this completely blind.
I think that’s important because building the platform itself is only one part of the challenge. Understanding the models, the people who use them, and the workflows creators actually need is just as important.
What stage am I at right now?
I’m currently in the development stage.
Right now, I’m focused on building the technical foundation and putting the different parts of the platform together. Testing is being done locally using our own GPUs for the time being, and one of our team members is handling the GPU side of things.
There’s still plenty to do, so I’m not going to throw out a launch date just to make the project sound further along than it actually is.
One thing I can say is that I’m taking this seriously. I want to build a real business around the platform, with the ambition of competing against established players like Civitai and Higgsfield, rather than simply releasing another AI image generator and hoping for the best.
I know that’s a big goal, especially for a small team, but that’s the level I’m aiming for.
How am I planning to make money?
The current plan is to offer paid credit packages and/or subscriptions while keeping a free option available for new users.
For model creators, I want to implement the 70%~ revenue-sharing model mentioned above. The idea is to give creators a meaningful financial incentive to make their models available on the platform and help build a community that benefits both creators and users.
On the content creation side, I also want to make sure the platform is affordable enough to be useful for people who generate content regularly, including AI OFM creators.
Of course, having a business/idea model on paper is one thing. Making the economics work in practice is another, and that’s something I’ll need to validate as the project develops.
What are my goals?
My first goal is to finish a solid MVP (Minimum Viable Product) and get it into the hands of real users.
Once the MVP is ready, I want to gather feedback, improve the generation experience, and figure out which features bring the most value.
From there, the focus will be on attracting users, expanding the available models and workflows, and building a sustainable business.
I haven’t settled on a specific revenue or profit target yet, so consider the $500K in the title an ambitious challenge rather than a prediction.
For now, the priority is to build something people genuinely want to use and make sure the business model makes sense.
Why am I starting this thread?
I want to document the journey from development to launch and, hopefully, to a profitable business.
I’ll share updates about the features we’re working on, the problems we run into, the decisions I make, and the numbers once I have meaningful results to report.
I’ll also be documenting this journey on YouTube, so there will be a video version alongside the updates I post here . I’ll share the videos here as they’re published, covering the development process, the challenges we face, and the progress we make along the way.
I’ll also try to be honest about what works, what doesn’t, and what I learn along the way. I’m sure there will be a few unexpected challenges.
Most importantly, I want this thread to be an actual record of progress, not just another Journey thread that gets aremovedoned after the opening post. ![]()
Anyway, that’s the plan for now.
I’d also be happy to hear your thoughts, suggestions and everything.
Let’s see where this goes.
Wish us luck, guys!
