Here are some questions I got in DM regarding this, I’ll address them in public so everyone knows:
How come I managed to get these permissions whereas a lot of other people tried emailing creators but never got a reply?
- You need to show the creators that you’re big, no one’s going to give rights of their content to you if you don’t show them social reach. You need a good email template and emphasize on the fact that you posting their content will get them credibility and would boost their viewership, do not forget to mention that you’ll be giving credits to them. Giving credits is very important, no one wants to give their content for free.
Are these videos copyright proof? Wouldn’t these be pulled in rights manager?
- A lot of these creators exist only on YouTube, we didn’t go after any video licensing companies which have rights manager. If you run a big page and you’re worried about copyrights, I have the email IDs of all the creators in the sheet itself, you can reach out to them before you post, making sure that they’re ok with it. We didn’t collect these for a specific page, so you’re free to use the ones that allowed us to post but don’t risk it if you’re a big publisher.
Will the email IDs mentioned in the list help you?
- Yes, you can mass email them if you want. Supposedly if you run a DIY page and want content for it, you can find DIY creators in the list and specifically email them with your pages URL and if they’re ok with you posting their content on Facebook. Not a lot of people will ever ask you for money but if you’re ok with spending a little money over licensing, get them to partner up with you, they do not have outrageous demands like other viral video companies who’d want 60-40 revenue shares.
How well should we edit these videos and should we download them directly from YouTube?
- I’ll say this again, it is very important to edit these videos, download them directly from YouTube and make these videos interactive by adding meaningful enhancements to them, adding captions, and a soundtrack, an animated logo of your page would work well. You could even add a 5-10 second voice over to these. Do not post them as it is.
