SWAPD feels like its getting crowded. How should listing visibility work?

Crowded People on Opening Day

We need your input!

This is a good problem to have, right up until every decent listing gets buried beneath fifty more listings before lunch.

Lately, SWAPD has been receiving more and more new listings. A growing number of users appear to be moving over from competing marketplaces, while our organic traffic is also increasing. The result is a daily flood of new offers.

Realistically, a large percentage of those listings will never make anyone a dime. That does not always mean the offers are bad. Many of them simply disappear into the volume before the right buyer ever sees them.

So, we need ideas.

How should SWAPD help users get more visibility for their listings?

Our existing promotion options are clearly in demand. In July, users were practically fighting over sidebar advertising space. We had to oversell several slots and reserve others months in advance. Image advertisements are becoming more popular, and autobumps are selling extremely well. Our KEYWORD ads have also sold many, many slots.

But is that enough?

Could we introduce other ways for users to gain visibility, including options that are not necessarily paid? For example, category spotlights, rotating featured listings, weekly staff selections, activity based rewards, seller milestones, curated newsletters, or something entirely different?

Paid ideas are welcome too. What kind of promotion would you genuinely purchase, and what would make it feel worthwhile rather than just another button that quietly eats your balance?

Patricia Williams: Do You Have Anything To Say?

A few ground rules:

The idea must be feasible, reasonably priced to build, and manageable with our current platform. Suggestions such as rebuilding the entire marketplace from scratch or creating an all knowing artificial intelligence system that predicts the future and telepathically matches every buyer with every subcontractor will be admired briefly, then ignored.

We also want to avoid turning SWAPD into a marketplace where only the person with the largest advertising budget gets seen. Paid visibility can exist, but organic sellers should still have a reasonable chance of being discovered.

  • So, what would actually help?

  • What visibility tools would you use?

  • What would you pay for?

  • What free exposure opportunities would make you more active on SWAPD?

And most importantly, what could we introduce without making the marketplace cluttered, unfair, or unbearable?

Let us hear your ideas.

What do you think about an AI bot that buyers can talk to, input the service we need, it tells us who are the best providers for that service and then I can convince it to pay using SWAPD’s USDT balance and if TAT is missed by even a second then seller provides service for free, and the USDT is sent to the buyers as a gift of happiness.

I know I know. Give me Nobel peace prize at this point.
