YouTube CMS access is not included by default in this service. Orchard handles Content ID and YouTube claims internally for distributed music, but they don’t provide external CMS panel logins to individual users.
The distribution + monetization through YouTube Content ID, will be covered automatically once your releases go live but you will not receive a separate CMS account. YouTube CMS panels are designed for major companies and large distributors, not for individual artists or small labels. Orchard (part of Sony) manages Content ID and all YouTube monetization internally, which means your tracks will still be monetized and protected automatically once they’re released through their system.
This service is NOT Tunecore, Distrokid, or United Masters. Those are entry level distributors with no direct corporate backing.

I completely understand where you’re coming from, but it’s important to clarify: comparing DistroKid, Tunecore or UnitedMasters with The Orchard is like comparing a basic distribution tool with a fully-fledged label services infrastructure. They are two entirely different worlds.

Platforms like DistroKid are aggregators they provide DIY distribution for independent artists at scale. Their role ends at “delivery to stores.” They don’t provide legal backing, direct licensing, sync opportunities, or industry level support.

The Orchard, on the other hand, is a Sony Music division that works with major labels, high tier artists, and industry professionals. It’s not a simple aggregator it’s a full distribution and label services ecosystem, with:

  • Direct contractual relationship under Sony Music Entertainment.
  • Access to sync licensing, publishing, neighboring rights, legal copyright registration .
  • Advanced reporting dashboards with real time data at a level DIY platforms don’t offer.
  • Integration into the same backend infrastructure used by Sony labels and their signed artists.

This is why Orchard deals are usually closed doors, available only to labels or artists with proven track records. The value isn’t just “delivery to the same DSPs”…

For example:

  • In the English-speaking market, The Orchard has distributed music for BTS, Jorja Smith, T-Pain, 21 Savage, Flipp Dinero, Kelsea Ballerini, among many others.
  • In the Latin world, their partnership with Rimas Entertainment brought artists like Bad Bunny, Arcángel, Eladio CarriĂłn, and Jowell & Randy directly into The Orchard’s pipeline.

Hello,

I have a question regarding the distribution plan you are offering. When joining this program, will the artist be signed directly with The Orchard and have their own account under the artist’s name, or will the distribution actually go through a third-party partner/affiliate of The Orchard (e.g., a sub-label or sub-account)?

Hi! Great question here’s the exact cooperation model:

Short answer: it’s a partner entry into The Orchard. You won’t sign a separate corporate contract directly with Sony/The Orchard. Instead, we onboard you under our approved Orchard partner account as your own imprint (label tag) with your branding.

What that means in practice

  • Distribution pipeline: Your releases are delivered by The Orchard to all DSPs. There is no other distributor in between only our partner status with The Orchard to get you in.
  • Branding/rights: We set your label/imprint name and â„—/© rights holder as you request. Our brand doesn’t need to appear publicly on stores.
  • Access: You get a dedicated login with access restricted to your catalog/analytics (plus The Orchard’s artist tools). We handle QC and deliveries, or you can submit with our QC your choice.
  • Contractual side: Your agreement is with us as an Orchard partner, not a separate corporate deal directly with Sony. It’s the standard way The Orchard works with curated partners and their rosters.

If one day you qualify for a direct contract with The Orchard, we’ll support the transition path.
