Wanted to chime in with my personal / professional experience. I’m a female agency owner, digital creator, marketer and entrepreneur across many fields. 20 years in content creation, 10 years heavy in socials. In the last 5 years, I have had my business blindsided by these third party payment apps causing a multitude of drama - including liquidating a company I had built with blood, sweat and tears because I couldn’t access any funds. Despite being with PayPal TEN years and spending insane amounts of money there, they screwed me. Stripe, Wise - any and all digital accounts I am using, banks included - same drama. My funds are withheld 2-4x a month, and I am constantly being asked for ID, to prove what I do, show where I make money. I have had to answer the same questions over and over and over again. They realise I am not dodgy, unblock me then the same thing happens shortly thereafter. All the industries I work in are flagged (astrology, pornhub, crypto/nfts I work for or own a business in), I earn above the ‘limits’ so get flagged there, I spend a lot in my business on legit expenditures (agency work duh), and in general they see social media and influencer stuff as a scam. My point is, it’s been a never never NEVER ending story. I am currently using Wise but it’s incredibly temperamental and always terrified of having the rug pulled, but am also receiving payments via PAXUM which might be an option for you guys. I live in Indonesia now, and am getting accounts set up here to be able to do things but opening possibility to other overseas and offshore at this rate. I know for escrow it’s tricky, but legit bank wires would go a long way to ease some of these bank’s issues as they can hold the funds etc. I get that it isn’t instant - and again, I wish I had solutions - but don’t know where any of this is going at this rate. Every time I think I’ve solved an issue, another one arises. Good luck guys x
Thank you for your insight. So what you’re telling us, the battle will never end
I thank the universe every day that SWAPD is pretty much becoming strictly crypto.
I wish I could use cryptos, but the way my taxes are setup… I am not trying to have the IRS come after my ass.
that’s what I am worried about because buying crypto is getting harder and harder too
Update: Binance fixed my suspended withdrawals after I spammed CZ Binance on Twitter …
Always good to keep some tether stored in your cold storage for any deals. there is always too much scrutiny when dealing with PayPal / bank.
Hope its resolved soon
Banks in commercials: Please join us. We will keep your money safe!
Also banks: WHERE DID YOU GET THIS MONEY FROM YOU THIEF? WE’RE KEEPING IT.
It’s crazy how often I have to explain how I work with people in different countries legally. Better yet is trying to explain that not everyone in Pakistan is part of the Taliban. It’s wild how many of these institutions act like it is their jobs to question how/where I spend my money.
Haha had similar situations. “Who’s Mr. Muhammad X? Why did he send you money?”
The world has globalized more than ever, but the old farts running the banks can’t fathom that. They want you to take a 30-year loan, deposit your 9-5 earnings there, and just be a good boy. These days, 14-year-old YouTubers deposit more than branch owners themselves. They need to adapt. If not, then IT’S GOOD FOR CRYPTO!
As a business that buys tons goods/services, crypto is a complete ball ache when it comes to making sure its all accounted for properly. Not suitable for high ticket goods when making purchases from a business, at least for us.
I actually had a face-to-face interaction with a bank employee here in my country (Canada) that thought myself owning a foreign company was some sort of crime.
That’s honestly my only issue with crypto. It’s a pain for accounting purposes. I just did my first crypto transaction ever recently, I haven’t figured out how I’m going to report it tax wise. I’m sure there’s a way, but I haven’t figured it out yet.
No way to do it efficiently and without inviting increased scrutiny into your business. Not worth the hassle.
There is a way and it’s not worth the time, effort, or headache.
I stopped buying/sending crypto from my business account. It’s nearly impossible to tell which transactions were “business” when my CPA reviews the transactions. Even then, it just does not look right when you deduct tens of thousands of dollars in crypto expenses.
Anyone in the USA, it’s problematic.
In 2023, any sellers who only accept crypto, usually based in India because they are unable to accept bank wires, I just wire someone the funds and have them convert to USDT for me. One of the admins does it for a 3% fee. I just eat the fee because it’s simply not worth the hassle, and this way it’s just a simple wire transfer expense.
The only thing I’ve bought with crypto I am just expecting to lose money on. I’m only hoping that the acct will generate enough revenue over the next 6 months that whatever I’m eating is negligible.
It’s funny, but I had a wire a few months ago get held for close to a month because it was “suspicious”. I had to speak with one of their “investigators” and tell them I make money working with people around the world on various platforms. Anyhow, this “investigator” asked to see transaction logs from the last 3 years. I politely told him “he’s not the effing IRS and I file my taxes every year and pay what I am supposed to”(I’m paraphrasing, there were alot more expletitives)…It’s their job is to hold my money, not effing tell me how it is meant to be spent or received. These banks need to wake tf up and realize that alot of industries are globalizing and many people all over the world are working together.
Very tedious. I skipped crypto in 2022. Relief knowing I don’t have to report this yr.
best come to dubai they love crypto out here hehe
