Need some help on this. If someone is selling an IG account with the original email included but the OG email is from a custom domain the seller owns, what should a buyer ask or demand be included?
For hypothetical example, a seller is selling a business IG account called Jeff’s Golf Clubs, as the business is no longer active. The OG email for the account is, hypothetically, admin@jeffsgolfclubs.com instead of gmail.com or whatever else. The website of the company/email is parked via GoDaddy.
What does a buyer do or ask? Hypothetically, the seller could always take the account back no matter what if they had control of the actual email domain, right?
Edit: What if the seller was offering the domain panel in the sale as well? Could the domain panel be pulled back and then used to pull back the IG in some way?
I could also ask for the seller to transfer the domain name to my domain company/registrar too, since the domain is just parked and not in use anymore. Right? That way I could assume full control over the original email too, from a domain level, correct?
And how would changing the account user name help at all? I’m totally ignorant on this aspect so please fill me in. Couldn’t the original email still gain access even if you changed the account username as well?
Yeah. They could transfer the domain over to you & then you just set up the email again. Or you could pay someone to transfer the username over to a new account under your control (assuming you buy the account for the username). If not, and you buy it because of its following - then ask them to transfer the domainname to you
Thanks, my thoughts as well. Buying for the content and following, not the user name, so I guess a domain transfer is the only way to be truly sure. What a pickle. I haven’t even had a domain registrar/service in 15+ years or so, so I guess I’ll have to hunt for a good one that’s also cheap. Any suggestions?
