So I keep getting this error, the meta property tag/page ID is most definitely in the /head section, the app ID is there, I have the same info set in the instant articles plugin too. Cache has been cleared, any solutions?

the only thing I can think of is I have an old deleted page where I used this domain previously, could it still be registering it?

Try to add manual an article in production. You can copy article code from instant article metabox under editor in wordpress and paste it in production tab - > create
