Ledger shares your seed phrases

Ledger published an update yesterday (2.2.1) that allows cloud recovery. This includes Ledger sending out your seed phrases to different companies. While users can obviously opt out, many are worried for a potentional backdoor or vulnerability.

Seen this all over Twitter so thought I would share it here.

They do anything except ship out my Ledger Stax device

Ledger leaked everything from their customers names to their phone numbers online. I trust them as much as I trust a Nigerian prince in my inbox.

So you trust them as much as @McEvans ?

Everyone on twitter was talking about Trezor in fact trezor was trending @Hooper

Fu’'ck it
I ordered ledger before 1 month and I do not even got it, now I need to buy Trezor

Trezor is not a good alternative, do a little bit more research to understand why…

I am still looking for the best “cold wallet”, so far found a couple but they only support bitcoin.

If anybody has one they trust, please inform us.

So that’s why I am seeing these “help my coins are vanishing” TrustPilot reviews on the Ledger profile:

I was going to make an article about this last night but forgot.

This sucks :frowning:

I didn’t even mention that their Recover service will require KYC. I think the chance of any actual harm is close to none but people are just freaking out and are angry as this update goes against what they thought Ledger cold wallets stood for.

Also saw this on Twitter, not really a technical type so can’t confirm or deny:

Happy Big Brother GIF by MOODMAN

I guess our 5x Free Trezors Meme Contest giveaway is more sexy now?

Their whole support team must have been hired on Fiverr…

Also one of their older tweets saying the exact opposite:
