OnlyFans is getting out of the pornography business.
Starting in October, the company will prohibit creators from posting material with sexually explicit conduct on its website, which many sex workers use to sell fans explicit content. They’ll still be allowed to put up nude photos and videos, provided they’re consistent with OnlyFans’ policy, the company said Thursday.
The popularity of the social-media service exploded during the pandemic as sex workers, musicians and online influencers used it to charge fans for exclusive access to photos, videos and other material. OnlyFans has attracted more than 130 million users.
That popularity also brought with it additional scrutiny, and OnlyFans is positioning itself more as a forum for musicians, fitness instructors and chefs than sex workers. While many of its most-popular creators post videos of themselves engaging in sexual behavior, several mainstream celebrities like Bella Thorne, Cardi B and Tyga have also set up accounts.
The changes are needed because of mounting pressure from banking partners and payment providers, according to the company. OnlyFans is trying to raise money from outside investors at a valuation of more than $1 billion.
Well its another phase where people would adapt to new changes, as I’ve seen many adult workers already shift from OnlyFans to their own private website with subscription tiers (resulting them to cut off OF fees and pay someone to maintain their website) known people are already doing this and others are following their footsteps.
But still this change will hit the income of many adult workers who solely are dependent on OF.
Managing payments yourself is not easy and most models wont be able to.
Payment processors for adult are a nightmare, not to mention server, website security etc.
The main problem with all those “new OnlyFans” is that they accept crypto as payment. For us, models, it’s quite hard to bring new audience if it causes difficulties with payments
Anyone venturing the same route would most likely end up like OnlyFans. Banks are the worst. We would need to go crypto, set up operation in a tax heaven, and give it a shot.
My company manages a couple of models who get contacted by OF companies and similar companies, offering tailored setups on personal websites. Exact same system pretty much. Don’t deal with that side anymore, but could be worth looking into. They’re called Blue Ember Group. Don’t know how legit they are though.
Hey Goofy, thanks for that!
I’ll definitely look up for them, if you got anymore recommendations I’d love to hear em out since Boogey said you’re an amazing at work you do and I’d definitely would love to hear your advices.
What are you thoughts on what OnlyFans is doing rn?
Because I saw that MasterCard speaker said they have none with the decision to ban sex workers from OnlyFans.
Also if you’re offering management I’d love to hear more about is since few managements I personally contacted tried to grab all my content, my accounts, and seemed fishy AF.
