Hey guys, I posted an ad but it got taken down within minutes for the soundtrack. The music was from a royalty free youtube channel but someone claimed them as their own on instagram. Now, I’m wondering, does this count as an actual copyright strike or will it not affect my accounts health? It gave me an email saying that I can appeal or remove the video (which I already did) and when I press appeal, it just goes to Instagram but does nothing. Please help if you have any insight on this
Yeah I can help…Check ib
In the DMCA process when you press appeal you are counter-claiming their takedown saying “no i can use this”. Then claimant gets an email saying they need to provide proof of a federal suit in the united states in 10 days or they will restore the content (they have up to 3 years to sue you in the USA). Keep in mind finding an overseas attorney on contingency is pretty easy so unless you are in somewhere copyright law is not enforced be careful.
when you counter claim whether IG sees it as a strike i do not know but both sides of the system get abused.
Also if it was instant then the takedown system auto detected it and it may not be royalty free.
Hope this helps
