Assume 200 million active daily users and a 15% subscription rate for $8 monthly. Thats an additional $250million monthly, or roughly $3 Billion increased revenue annually.

Not remotely at all. World politics runs on Twitter. It is not even close to seeing downfall.
It is not about money but power. All those billions mean nothing if u have no power to threaten world powers.
But now with twitter he could literally do. For instance, in my country TEsla hasn’t got in yet because of the ridiculous import duty. Our govt wants elon to build tesla here to get tax cuts. 100% import duty will make insane price for the car with already overpriced Retail price. But with twitter he could literally take leverage to make it possible. Because Indian politics literally runs on twitter. All journos and media get traction only on twitter.
Think like that way. He will be the first trillioner in the world.
Elon is a businessman! He is literally getting back the funds that were lost. Imagine $8 per blue checkmark. He knows his way around the minds of the youths lol.

Someone created an impersonation account for a pharmaceutical company, got the checkmark and tweeted “insulin is now free” causing the real company’s stock to crash massively. I think he disabled it out of fear of getting sued.
Probably a strategized move to dump the stock to protect hierarchy. I’ll be surprised if you can ever buy the regular blue checkmark again with Twitter blue after this fiasco
