Update on SWAPD Phone Verification System

We are committed to ensuring the safety and smooth experience of our users. As such, we periodically review our verification measures to ensure they are both effective and user-friendly.

Considering the challenges posed by tight cross-country SMS message legislations, coupled with escalating costs and misuse by pranksters, we have decided to restructure our phone verification system.

It’s worth noting that, in our experience, the value of phone numbers as a verification medium has decreased over time. Many members resort to VoIP (throwaway numbers), discardable SIM cards, or, in unfortunate situations involving ill-intentioned users, simply avoid answering or show indifference.

Given these realities, starting immediately, mandatory phone verifications at signup will no longer be enforced. Instead, phone verifications will now be conducted randomly and specifically during ID verification processes. Just to be clear, phone numbers will still be required at signup, however it won’t be mandatory to confirm it until ID verification.

We believe this change will strike a balance between security and ease of use, maintaining the trust and integrity of our platform while accommodating the realities of modern communication trends.

As always, we’re here to help and answer any queries you might have. Feel free to reach out if you have questions or feedback on this updated verification process.

Thank you for your continued trust and understanding.
