If you want to know if the account Legacy Verified or M Verified, you just only need check on message, you can try DM, and you will see if on DM show Full Name then that M Verifed, if not M Verified there not show name but Username.

Just click their badge and it shows the date. If before March 2023. Then M verified
Not all before March 2023 is using M Verified.
Other option :
- Report Account (can choose on random account)
- Choose, It’s pretending to be someone else
- Choose A celebrity or public figure
- search for the account you want to check.
look for the account you want to know about, if it’s not there it’s definitely M Verified.

You are right , that is the only way… DM showing username or not be able to see profile followers are indicators but not a main one.
I agree. This is the best way to know for sure if they are legacy or M verified
I am curious if let’s say, in a year from now, IG will update the color of the legacy verified accounts. I don’t see how they won’t make some sort of real difference between M and legacy
They’re not interested in differentiating between legacy and M. They’ve changed the entire purpose of verification and doesn’t seem like they regret it.
