Warning! Do not open any files sent by users

No worries we are a team here. If you downloaded the file just move fast. Don’t worry about being paranoid or saving a couple dollars in fees to move somewhere else

IF YOU’RE GOING TO MOVE YOUR CRYPTO MAKE SURE TO…

Check the address you’re sending to 1000’s times. Many crypto viruses sneakily change the address in the clipboard when pasting. That means you would move your entire crypto to a hacker. This happened a few months ago to two SWAPD users (they weren’t infected here).

I’m confused, I basically clicked the file, but on chrome download it shows “Failed - insufficient permissions” so basically looks like it didnt download, should be safe right?

If not pls explain what I should do as I’m retarded with everything related to computers lol

Hub was sent to me for the first time then I downloaded many times and tried to open but it was not opening

last thing ill say before making my dinner but

billy is probably right, they probably are just after crypto for a fast payout…

but a lot of you guys have access to social media panels etc, theres been a string of instagram/twitter hacks recently (most sim swaps, but some using panels) to hack crypto accounts and launch crypto draining attacks, wouldnt surprise me if the people doing that are targeting users with panels to try use hacked panels to commit mass fraud.

maybe lockdown your panels if you have them and you got hacked

I will do some more scans via various scanners. I am not sure, probably will do the format to be safe completely. Then, will change all my passwords and enable 2Fa.

I laught at myself, never downloaded a single virus through 20+ years, now this happened.

2FA is not enough to protect you. HVNC protocols will clone your browser and session. The hacker can inject cookies and login to your accounts without triggering automatic 2FA.

A common misconception is that if you’re on IOS you are safe. Utilizing Java script coded malware you can easily infect IOS. These xcel droppers are only something people use to drop their virus into so that it doesn’t say .exe (no one will open that).

If you downloaded the file, tried to open it, and got an error, do not ignore this warning. 8/10 times that’s how infected files work. They will throw an error to throw you off. You still need to take this serious and clean your windows based PC.

@SWAPD if you need assistance I have 10 years of it security experience and a related degree in the field.

Modern malware is normally injected into your %appdata %temp AppData – Where to Find the AppData Folder in Windows 10

If you downloaded this I would recommend you check these folders and also Google “How to remove a RAT, Keylogger, Stealer”

So how can we check if we are infected or not on android devices and remove the malware possibly?

To be honest, when I first joined Swapd, I used to request members to send me files as .txt files, but then I discovered that Swapd does not support that format. I think .txt should be added because it is the simplest format for text files and it’s impossible contain any malicious code.

Not true

What’s not true?

Same. And I don’t blame Swapd.
His, 3 years old account and decent reviews that too from the past, made me believe. If it was coming from a newbie or a SC member I’d have never downloaded it. Sigh.

Can’t believe he was a decent personality for over 3 years on here and also did some tickets. Yet, he chose the dark path of scamming. What a world we live in.

There are .txt droppers where you can attach back doors to .txt files and they are FUD (fully undetectable to antivirus)
