YouTube’s Privacy rules!
On YouTube, a customer’s personal data is considered to be both audio and audiovisual content created and shared through Google’s provisions; Since YouTube is entwined with Google, creators can request their personal data be erased. Users must take the time to understand the terms of the agreement that stands between google and YouTube’s Terms of Service. Additionally, it is the user’s responsibility to ensure the security of their personal data. Most users share as much information as they please. Some videos on YouTube ask if the viewer is familiar with a specific brand or if they prefer a particular brand to another. The viewer has the option of answering the survey or skipping to the video. In a previous article, Facebook’s open privacy policy is highlighted, and similar to Facebook, YouTube gives the user an option when it comes to ads and explains in detail how and why they see certain ads.
Below, I will discuss several aspects of Youtube’s policies regarding creator and viewer identity regarding content privacy.
The protection of Individual identity is a big deal.
YouTube requires users to not infringe on anyone else’s privacy within their content. Suppose someone creates a video and uses someone’s image or likeness without consent. The misrepresented person must first request the creator to take the video down and then proceed to get a legal representative involved or request the content to be removed using the privacy guidelines. YouTube will only remove content if a person’s financial information, legal name, contact information, or image/voice is exposed.

Data Incident protocol
Data incidents are strictly limited to threats of Google’s security that include a user’s personal data. Unsuccessful log-in attempts, pings, and port scans are not considered to be Data Incidents. Google manages customer’s concerns by providing a Data subject tool that directly responds to a specific request regarding personal data.

Youtube’s Child Safety Policy
YouTube was originally a place only suited for people ages 13 and up but in the present, many parents turn to Youtube for child-friendly content. Recently, YouTube has made accommodations to make it a safer space for young and impressionable minds. YouTube ads are personalized by an array of information tracked by things mostly only Google can see. Everything about a specific person is categorized by their demographic, bars and restaurants they frequent, and brands they consistently purchase and search online. YouTube disabling ads for children’s content is imperative for keeping them safe on the internet and making them less susceptible to coming into contact with inappropriate content. The Child Safety policy also disables location tracking for children under 18 and utilizes machine learning which locates content specifically made for children.
YouTube Partner Program
The YouTube Partner program allows users to turn off personalized ads. Similar to Facebook, users can even request fewer ads for certain topics about specific topics they have recently searched. Personalized ads are based on information collected about an individual’s preferences, but restrictions on ads concerning alcohol, gambling, and prescription medications are put in place to protect sensitive viewers from triggering content.
