Chat rules for public channels

Accessing our chat feature is complimentary, but it comes with the condition that you adhere to a set of rules. These rules have been put in place to protect our users and maintain a safe, spam-free community.

We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for the following:

  • Violation of existing SWAPD policies (e.g., offsite communication)
  • NSFW content (including nudity, explicit content, and violence)
  • Bullying and harassment
  • Spamming (e.g., sending repetitive or nonsensical messages). Posting offers or advertising your services in the general chat is strictly prohibited. Please use our #Promo chat room for business-related messages.
  • Sharing links, both internal and external. This means you should refrain from using the chats to promote your listings, as it would be considered a violation of our bumping policy.
  • Maintain professionalism, and report inappropriate behavior to a moderator by flagging the offending messages.
  • Use only the English language in public channels.
  • Avoid tagging @Administrators or @Moderators unless it’s an emergency. Use the flagging feature if you need our attention.

We understand that it’s easy to get carried away when you’re enjoying the chat, and the conversation is flowing. However, please be aware that our rules will be enforced in the chat, just as they are in private messages and topics.

Please also note that SWAPD staff does NOT offer support via chat, so if you require assistance, contact a SWAPD staff member through a private message. For general SWAPD help, you can use our AI-assisted chatbot. Just message @help and ask about anything SWAPD-related.
